Therefore if you want to make sure that yours last for several years to come after purchasing them it is important that you take care of them properly.  By using the tips below you can preserve and protect your boots so ensuring that they look just as good as when you first took them out of the box.

Step 1 – Before you begin cleaning your boots after wearing them make sure that you remove any loose dirt or salt by brushing them very gently.  It is important that you use a relatively hard bristled brush to ensure that as much of the salt and dirt that has built up on your leather boots is removed.

Step 2 – After removing all the dirt and salt from the boots with a brush now gently wipe them over to remove any dust that may still be attached to your boots.  If you can wipe them over with a damp not wet cloth as this will help to ensure that all dust residue is collected by the cloth and removed.

Step 3 – If you notice any of the boots are particular soiled then apply a coat of leather cleaning solution to this area before you apply the protection cream or polish.  The best way to do this is by using a soft clean white cloth.  This way you can then see if the dirt is actually being removed or not.  If you do need to use a cleaning solution on your boots allow them to dry thoroughly naturally before you apply the polish or cream.  What you must not do however is put them close to a direct source heat such as a radiator or in direct sunlight.  If you do then further damage will be caused to the leather.

Step 4 – Next you must begin applying a good quality leather protection cream or polish on to the boots.  Make sure that you use a colour that closely matches the boots and if this not possible then use a neutral colour leather polish or cream instead.  As you apply the cream or polish place one hand inside the boot so that the shape of it is retained.  To apply the polish or cream you can use either a soft bristled brush or a soft cotton cloth.  But make sure that you apply the protection over the whole of the boot evenly.

Step 5 – Finally now wipe the boots thoroughly with a clean soft cloth so that any excess polish or cream is removed and helps to bring up the boots rich soft glow once more.  Then if you want to ensure that your leather slouch boots are well protected from the elements then spray them with a good protective solution.  Remember like the cream and polish to apply evenly and allow the solution to dry thoroughly, usually leaving them to dry for an hour will be sufficient.

But along with these steps being taken to ensure that your slouch boots are well cared for, these can be used for taking care of other types of leather boots you may have.
